Edward Thomas Hardy CBE was born September 15, 1977, known Tom Hardy is an English actor, producer and former model. After studying drama at the Drama Center in London, he made his film debut in Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down (2001). He has since been nominated for an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, two Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and two British Academy Film Awards, receiving the 2011 BAFTA Rising Star Award.

Hardy performed on the British and American stages. He was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Newcomer for his role as Skank in the production of In Arabia We’d All Be Kings (2003), and in 2003 received the Evening Standard Theater Award for Outstanding Newcomer for his performances in both In Arabia We’d All Be Kings and Blood, in which he plays Luca. He starred in the production of The Man of Mode (2007) and received positive reviews for his role in the play The Long Red Road (2010). He is active in charitable work and is an ambassador of the Prince’s Trust. He was named CBE during the Birthday Honors 2018 for services rendered to the drama.
Hardy was married to producer Sarah Ward from 1999 until their divorce in 2004. He met assistant director Rachael Speed on the set of The Virgin Queen in 2005, and they had a son in April 2008 before. to separate in 2009. That year, Hardy began a relationship with actress Charlotte Riley after they met on the set of Wuthering Heights. They got married in July 2014. They have two children; the first was born in October 2015 and the second in December 2018.
Until the age of 20, Hardy frequently took alcohol and crack cocaine to relieve his dysthymia. He said he got “out of control” with drinks and drugs before changing and needing psychological help.
While filming Bronson, Hardy met prisoner Charles Bronson on several occasions and the two became friends. Bronson was impressed with how Hardy managed to match his musculature and how well he could mimic his personality and voice. Bronson said he believed Hardy was the only person who could play him.
Hardy was named one of GQ Magazine’s 50 Best Dressed British Men in 2015. He was on Debrett’s 2016 list of UK’s Most Influential People. He was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2018 Anniversary Honors for theater service.
